Avoriaz Apres Ski Report: 18th April 2013
Take a bow - you've been amazing
Another winter is now done and dusted in everyone’s favourite ski resort (I would say that) and spring has arrived with a bang. This weekend we celebrated the closing of Morzine and Les Gets in +22 degrees temperatures and there were goggle tans a plenty at the end of the weekend.
Ironically, the Pleney bubble lift, the replacement plans for which have caused so much controversy over the last couple of weeks, broke down on Saturday – the day before it was due to be switched off for good. It has definitely carried its last skier now!
And of course the new 3S Prodains Express, connecting Prodains and Avoriaz in just 4 minutes opened this weekend too. It was supposed to open in December, then in February, then in March, but we finally got the chance to see the huge new lift stations at either end, and travel on the super speed 3S lifts. I personally think it was worth the wait!
Avoriaz is still open this week and I enjoyed a very lazy, slushy ski in the Lindarets bowl on Sunday. The snow is in great condition before noon, so get out early!
And Avoriaz has it’s own round of closing parties to come this weekend. Band of the season CAB Collective will play at Chez Flo on Sunday from 2pm. Les Trappeurs, just next door to Chez Flo and opposite the Prodains Express lift station in Avoriaz, has upped it’s game significantly in recent years and will host live DJs from Ibiza, dancing girls, competitions and a special lunch menu.
And that is it from me. See you next season…
