The Morzine Apres Love Report
Love is in the air on the streets and pistes of Morzine. It may well be half term but there’s plenty going on for couples in the resort this week. Here’s my favourite love bolt holes…
Morzine’s newest venue has a special event for every occasion it seems! Enjoy a vintage Valentine evening for just €45 per person including a six course meal (the main course is chargrilled monkfish, confit duck and red wine jus to give you an idea…) followed by live music from Verity & Violet, a sparkling vintage inspired singing duo who also perform at such fancy pants places as London Fashion Week, Harrods and The Dorchester! It seems that Morzine is going up in the world! I’d really recommend booking in advance as I doubt there’ll be a spare table to be had on the night.
If you’ve found yourself in Morzine, sans Valentine’s gift, and you don’t think your other half would appreciate a whistling marmot as a token of your love and affection, worry not. Indigo Restaurant at the Chamois d’Or Hotel
The Chamois d’Or is the newest addition to Les Gets’ growing hotel stock. Their funky restaurant and bar offers something very different to the usual Savoyarde faire and their special Valentine’s menu is no less interesting! Priced at €47 for three courses, you can expect to feast on scallops with blue lobster bisque or tournedos fillet beef with morel mushrooms. You’ll find the Chamois d’Or just next to Les Get’s main marketplace.
This is possibly the most unique way to spend Valentine’s Day in a ski resort! The Mont Chery bubble lift in Les Gets stays open after hours for a romantic evening meal. Each bubble on the lift is decorated to create a warm, romantic atmosphere and a different dinner course is served each time you pass through the lift station. On a clear night the lights of Les Gets will twinkle beneath you. The whole experience is priced at €60 per person and dinner includes filet of grouper with Indian spices as a main course and the evening starts at 7pm.
