This pretty, traditionally Savoyard village sits on the southern edge of the vast Portes du Soleil, with two ski areas on either side – Mont Chéry and Chavannes. At 100m higher than Morzine, it often enjoys a little more snow and has a distinctly Alpine feel.
The local Morzine–Les Gets ski area is great for beginners and intermediates, yet you can easily venture further into the wider Portes du Soleil if you fancy covering more ground. Les Gets is particularly popular with families and those who love the convenience of skiing straight back into the village.
Les Gets has earned an international reputation for mountain biking and frequently welcomes world cup competitions to its challenging trails.

Les Gets is a traditional mountain village in the French Alps with a past shaped by forestry, farming and cheese making. Its name comes from old Savoyard words for the channels once used to slide timber down from the forests and for centuries life here revolved around the land. Things changed in 1936 when the first ski lift, the Boule de Gomme, opened and skiing slowly took over from logging. Today Les Gets still holds on to its Alpine character while welcoming visitors year round for skiing, biking and mountain adventures.
Les Gets offers a mix of local culture, history and traditions to discover during your stay. You can join a free guided tour of the old town, visit cheese cellars to learn how classic Savoyard cheeses are made or take a magical nighttime walk through the enchanted forest that is Alta Lumina. On a rainy day or if you’re taking a break from the slopes, head to the mechanical music museum in Les Gets or jump on the bus to Morzine to visit one of the museums there.

Up on the mountain, restaurants serve hearty dishes with panoramic views, perfect for a sunny terrace lunch in winter or an alfresco feast in summer. Whether you’re taking a break mid-ski or pausing on a hike, eating on the slopes is as much part of the experience as the activity itself.
With options ranging from family-friendly spots to stylish modern dining, Les Gets offers plenty of choice. Wherever you eat, the focus is on good food, warm hospitality and enjoying the mountains.
