Chris Froome & Alberto Contador in Les Gets

The Criterium du Dauphine starters list has been released and it’s good news for cycling fans…

The Criterium du Dauphine is effectively the warm up for the Tour de France. It’s a chance for riders and fans to get a feel for what’s to come when the tour starts in July.

On the 5th June, which is THIS weekend, the Dauphine is in Les Gets for it’s opening stage. We’ll see riders race up to the peak of Mont Chery; which is a mean 3.9 km climb. It means fans will be able to get up close to their favourite riders as they battle to reach the top of this challenging climb.

The starters list for the Dauphine has been released, revealing which riders will be taking in the Tour de France prologue and excitingly it includes some of the biggest names in cycling and also some of the contenders to claim this year’s yellow jersey. Chris Froome is riding for team Sky alongside his rival Alberto Contador who rides for Tinkoff. The likes of Richie Porte and Thibaut Pinot are expected to feature too.

The gradient of the climb means it will be a great chance to really see the riders as they charge to the top of the mountain. Froome is hoping to make it his third Criterium du Dauphine win so it really is a “not to be missed” race.
