Avalanche in Chatel
Rescue operation launched yesterday afternoon
A large avalanche was triggered yesterday afternoon in the Linga sector of Chatel yesterday afternoon.
The slide measured 6 metres long by around 13 metres wide, with snow depth of 1.3 metres and came down over the red Linga piste.
Search and rescue were immediately on the scene and thankfully discovered that no-one was buried.
The avalanche risk is currently 2/5 in the Haute Savoie region, and with warmer weather, spontaneous wet slides are clearly still a possibility.
