Avoriaz summer mountain natural trail races

The Trail des Hauts Forts are all natural trail running races with a short 23km race, a medium 40km race and a long 51km race as well as a relay race. From Morzine at 1,000m, up to Avoriaz at 1,800m, the track crosses one of the most beautiful trails of the fabulous Portes du Soleil domain.

The course is varied and rhythmic, aerial in places, with an army of volunteers to encourage and refuel you. Ideally placed on the calendar at three weeks from the UTMB, the courses are ITRA certified and registered on the list of UTMB® World Series Qualifiers.

Trail Mines d'Or 23km / 1950m+ Race starting in Morzine, passing Chalet de Bon Morand, passing Lac de Mines d'Or, Chalet d'Aiguille, Col du Fornet and finishing in Avoriaz.
Trail Fornet 40km / 3040m+ Race starting in Morzine, passing via Le Pleney, round to Pointe de Nyon heading back towards Morzine before almost turning round towards Chalet de Bon Morand, Chardonnière, passing Lac de Mines d'Or, Col de Coux, Col du Fornet and finishing in Avoriaz.
Trail Hauts Forts 50km / 3850m+ Race starting in Morzine, passing via Le Pleney, round to Pointe de Nyon heading back towards Morzine before almost turning round towards Chalet de Bon Morand, Chardonnière, passing Lac de Mines d'Or, Col de Coux, Chalet de l'Aiguille, then onto Col du Fronet before heading towards Avoriaz where a loop around Chalets de Morzinette and Télépherique des Prodains and finishing in Avoriaz. It is possible to do this race as a relay - see below.
Relais Contre-Bandiers 28km / 2100m+ & 22km 1740m+ Following the route of the above race, the first part of the relay is the 28km race beginning in Morzine and finishing in Chardonnière, where the 22km race begins and eventually finishes in Avoriaz.

Chalet Les Mines d'Or

Facts & figures

These races are run with fuel autonomy, meaning no solid supplies are provided, but liquid supplies are. There is also as usual the basins and natural water points indicated on the course.
