Avoriaz is holding onto its snow well for the end of March, with its higher altitude giving it an edge over the surrounding areas. There is a clear spring feel in the afternoons, but the mornings still offer that firmer, more wintry surface across much of the mountain. The resort remains in good shape, and it feels like a reliable option if you are looking for consistent conditions this late in the season.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently around 90 to 130 cm in resort, increasing to between 180 and 260 cm on the upper slopes, with the best coverage across the higher Portes du Soleil sectors. There has been very little recent snowfall, with only light flurries at altitude that have not significantly added to the base.
Temperatures have been ranging from minus 6 to minus 2 degrees on the upper mountain, while the resort has seen daytime highs between plus 3 and plus 9 degrees. The freezing level has generally been between 2400 and 2800 metres, dropping overnight which is helping to firm up the snowpack for early skiing. Winds have remained mostly light, with occasional moderate gusts on exposed ridgelines.
Skiing conditions are good across much of the area, particularly in the mornings when pistes are firm and well prepared. As the day progresses, the snow softens into a smooth spring surface. Higher slopes are holding their quality well, while lower runs towards Morzine and Les Gets are softening more quickly and can become heavier by the afternoon.
