The 2008/09 winter season begins!
Welcome to the new, weekly, Video Snow Reports from the Portes du Soleil.After five very happy winters in the Espace Killy I decided it was time to move to a new resort, something fresh and challenging. So far the Portes du Soleil has been both!
We had quite a heavy snowfall yesterday and although the forecast was for more snow today the skies did their best to clear. On the hill the early winter’s snowfall is evident and all the pistes are in excellent condition and much of the off piste areas are still untouched with lashings of the soft stuff.
For those looking for freestyle both the Stash and the baby park in Avoriaz are open as is the halfpipe. Work has begun on the Arae Park but at the moment none of the jumps are shaped.
There is more snow forecast for the weekend and more lifts opening, so far it’s been a great beginning to the winter.
