During the busy holiday weeks the pistes get crowded and the lift queues can get congested. Why not set off on your own and explore the back country terrain here in the Portes du Soleil? For years this was the sole domain of skiers and any snowboarder wanting to go touring had to take snow shoes. Not so these days as splitboard technology has come a long way so now everyone can skin up and slide down, just like Sam.
