Avoriaz is perched high on a rocky promontory just above Morzine and Les Gets. Although Avoriaz itself is pedestrianised, the three resorts are regularly connected via public buses in both summer and winter.
Avoriaz is a car-free resort and offers horse-drawn sleighs, sleds and electric shuttles to move around. However, all apartments are ski-in/ski-out and the resort amenities are right on your doorstep.
At night, you will see a fleet of shuttles zipping around the resort which look a little like minibuses on caterpillar tracks.
On arrival in Avoriaz, there are baggage sleds available at the entrance points to the resort, as well as at the base of each residence to help you manoeuvre your luggage to and from your apartment. They work like supermarket trolleys and require a €1 or €2 coin to release one which you get back when you return it to one of the return points.
The Balad'Aulps buses run along the Aulps valley, connecting Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Montriond, Essert Romand, St Jean d'Aulps, Le Biot and Le Jotty.
The Morzine, Les Gets and Saint-Jean d'Aulps village shuttles are free to use.
