Sun:Sets at the Kinkerne 2016
Dancing in the snow, DJ's & fire eaters
As the sun went down, the snow fell and it made for an amazing evening at The Kinkerne!
Sun:Sets is the first of the Kinkerne's big après events after being taken over by Rude chalets. Usually it's a great place to stop off for beer and food after a hard day on the slopes on the Avoriaz side of the resort. It's now added to that offering by becoming one of the top après venues this side of the mountain.
To begin with (at 3pm) the weather was unfortunately dampening spirits, with heavy rain casting a nasty shadow over the start of the event. But by 4pm the rain changed to heavy snow and the atmosphere at the Kinkerne transformed. People headed down the slope and piled into the bar to enjoy pints, wine, prosecco and some amazing tunes. It was also great for children and families thanks to a selection of 'free for all' sledges!
The main pull of the evening was a long set by Morzine resident DJ Chicane. He took charge of the decks on a stage overlooking the Prodain telecabine from about 5 O'clock, supported by fire dancers and pretty amazing snow!
Drinks were priced at 5 euros and queues at the bar meant you had to wait a while for a drink but with music and such a positive vibe it didn't really matter! The venue had several sheltered stages and some portable toilets, which gave it a real festival feel. There were hundreds of people there dancing in the snow and clearly enjoying the happy atmosphere.
The event continued long into the night with an after party at the Paradis nightclub. It's thought that this could be the first of a number of events arranged by the team behind The Kinkerne and after last night’s fun and games, we're glad to hear it!
The Kinkerne can be found 200 metres from the Prodain telecabine. It has a Bavarian feel to it serving food including sausage platters, nachos and burgers. It’s recently changed ownership and Rude Chalets is clearly going out of its way to make the venue one of the most popular in the area. It’s well worth a visit and next time they throw a Sun:Sets party, don’t miss it!
