From clubs and bars to restaurants and cafes, whatever you’re looking for on your night out, the Portes Du Soleil has it all. Whether you like a boozy night out dancing to cheesy music or whether you like a quiet glass of wine on a terrace, which looks out across the mountains – it’s not hard to find your perfect holiday spot.

In fact, the problem you’ll find is that there are too many amazing places to choose from! But don’t worry; we’ve looked at (and occasionally tried) the nightlife across Avoriaz to help you plan a night out to remember!

BOOZY BOOGIERS

(Those with boundless energy who like beer, dancing and snacky food!)

Morzine and Avoriaz both have really lively nightlife scenes, especially in the winter, but don’t worry, there are plenty of places to go to if you fancy bit of a boozy night out in the summer as well. Why not start your evening at Beanies Café Bar in Morzine where you can get a glass of wine or a pint of beer whilst listening to live music. The venue has evenings every week with appearances from local musicians and bands to kick start your party in style. Then you can head up to the livelier parts of town for a night of dancing, cheesy music and plenty of reasonably priced drink.

The Tibetan Café and Opera are favourites for those wanting to party until the early hours. If you’re looking for something basic and equally cheesy there’s always Coyote’s as well! These places are often full of stag and hen dos and people who have had plenty of drink- so really are the rowdier end of the nights out!

TIRED TRAVELLERS

(After a hard day in the mountains you just want easy food and a quick, quiet pint)

If a night out on the tiles is the last thing on your mind after a full day of exercising in the hills, then there are also plenty of options for you too. If you’re looking for something very chilled out, with a good pint and plenty of quick and easy food then why not head to Changabangs in Avoriaz or The Bec Jaune in Morzine. Both have simple food menus, with hearty portions and quick and simple service. Changabangs is a step up from a fast food restaurant and microbrewery, the Bec Janune, is like a home from home with its filling dinners and real ale. Similarly, O’ Chalet in the centre of Morzine offers extremely reasonably priced burgers, sandwiches and salads with hard or soft drinks depending on what you’re looking for. It’s another great place to end a busy day without requiring too much energy and effort.

HUNGRY HOLIDAYERS

(Those looking for a filling feed for big groups and family parties)

If you’re looking for somewhere for the whole family after a busy day of touring the region then there’s also loads of stuff available for you. Le Tremplin a the bottom of the Pleney slope in Morzine is a great place for people looking for food, drinks and plenty of space for big parties. It has a party vibe in winter and occasionally in summer but with plenty of space for the children to place and lots on the menu – it’s a really great choice for families. Just down the road, La Ferme De La Fruitiere is a great place for big groups, with long wooden tables and a big outside seating area. It’s a great spot if you want to sample a hearty three course “Plat Du Jour” and also have a bottle or two of wine to end the day.

POSH PARTIERS

(The cocktail loving, heel wearing, devoted champagne drinkers)

If you’ve had enough of wearing muddy cycling gear, helmets and trainers and fancy doling yourself up a bit for a post night on the town, then I’ve found a few good spots to start you off in style. The Coup de Coeur wine bar is a lovely spot for a glass or two of chilled fizz and a few canapés. You can sit inside or out on their lovely terrace which overlooks the pleney slope. Another spot, which suits frocks and suits, is the Farmhouse restaurant in Morzine. It’s a little steeper in price but well worth it on those special occasions with canapés, an extensive wine list and plenty of traditional dishes. If you’re happy to travel a little further a field, La Bout De Lac at the Lake in Montriond is a beautiful setting for a relaxing night out or even a date – so no one would blame you if you fancied getting a little doled up to go there.

TRADITIONAL TROFFERS

(Those looking for a Savoyard dining experience and a traditional taste of the Portes Du Soleil)

We’ve got hundreds of restaurants across the region offering you a traditional Savoyard dining experience. So if you’re looking for a feast you won’t forget, there’s no shortage of choices. Restaurant La Flamme in the centre of Morzine has a spectacular Fondue on its menu, as does La Chaudanne, which is just down the road near to Ed’s supermarket. If you’re after a beautiful pudding or raclette, La Dez'Alp is also a firm favourite with locals and tourists. But really – if Savoyard is what you’re after, all of the amazing restaurants across the region will fill you and your expectations! They’re great. And of course, you can travel a little further to Les Gets for even more choices!

SUN SEARCHERS

(For those hoping to make the most of the summer sun in the Mountains - with a glass of something chilled in their hands of course!)

You may have come to the Portes Du Soleil for your summer holiday, so we can’t blame you for wanting to eke as many hours out of the beautiful French sunshine as possible. Many bars and restaurants across the PDS pride themselves on their terrace spaces where you can sit in the sun with a glass of wine or an ice-cold beer until it disappears behind a mountain. Inferno at Nyon has a particularly spectacular terrace overlooking Morzine and the surrounding mountains. Also popular for its views and late evening sunshine is the Marmotte d’Or in Montriond. On the south side of the valley it gets the sun for longer than any other bar in the region. Well worth a trip if you’re desperate to soak up the rays.
